Monochromatic solutions to $x + y = z^2$

Number Theory 2016-08-31 v1

Abstract

Suppose that N\mathbb{N} is 22-coloured. Then there are infinitely many monochromatic solutions to x+y=z2x + y = z^2. On the other hand, there is a 33-colouring of N\mathbb{N} with only finitely many monochromatic solutions to this equation.
