Coloring Fast Without Learning Your Neighbors' Colors

Distributed, Parallel, and Cluster Computing 2020-08-11 v1 Data Structures and Algorithms

Abstract

We give an improved randomized CONGEST algorithm for distance-22 coloring that uses Δ2+1\Delta^2+1 colors and runs in O(logn)O(\log n) rounds, improving the recent O(logΔlogn)O(\log \Delta \cdot \log n)-round algorithm in [Halld\'orsson, Kuhn, Maus; PODC '20]. We then improve the time complexity to O(logΔ)+2O(loglogn)O(\log \Delta) + 2^{O(\sqrt{\log\log n})}.
