Abstract

Given a right-infinite word x\bf x over a finite alphabet AA, the rank of x\bf x is the size of the smallest set SS of words over AA such that x\bf x can be realized as an infinite concatenation of words in SS. We show that the property of having rank two is decidable for the class of kk-automatic words for each integer k2k\ge 2.
