Exotic Meson candidates in COMPASS data

High Energy Physics - Experiment 2023-12-19 v2

Abstract

One of the prime goals of the COMPASS experiment at CERN is the study of the light meson spectrum, with a particular emphasis on the search for exotic states. The focus of this paper is on signals of the lightest hybrid candidate π1(1600)\pi_1(1600) with spin-exotic quantum numbers JPC=1+J^{PC}=1^{-+} in several decay channels such as ππ+π\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-, η()π\eta^{(\prime)}\pi^-, ωππ0\omega\pi^-\pi^0, ππ+πη\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-\eta, and KSKSπK_S K_S \pi. In addition, we highlight new results for the Kπ+πK^-\pi^+\pi^- final state, which indicate a supernumerary state with respect to the constituent quark model with JP=0J^{P}=0^-.
