Derivatives of flat functions

General Mathematics 2018-05-07 v1

Abstract

We remark that there is no smooth function f(x)f(x) on [0,1][0, 1] which is flat at 00 such that the derivative f(n)f^{(n)} of any order n0n\geq 0 is positive on (0,1](0,1]. Moreover, the number of zeros of the nn-th derivative f(n)f^{(n)} grows to the infinity and the zeros accumulate to 00 when nn \to \infty.
