Cofiniteness of generalized local cohomology modules

Abstract

Let \fa\fa denote an ideal of a commutative Noetherian ring RR and MM and NN two finitely generated RR-modules with \pdM<\pd M< \infty. It is shown that if \fa\fa is principal or RR is complete local and \fa\fa a prime ideal with dimR/\fa=1\dim R/\fa=1, then the generalized local cohomology module H\fai(M,N)H^i_{\fa}(M,N) is \fa\fa-cofinite for all i0i \geq 0. This provides an affirmative answer for the above ideal \fa\fa to a question proposed in [{\bf 13}].
