A Generalization of Rickart Modules

Abstract

Let RR be an arbitrary ring with identity and MM a right RR-module with S=S= EndR(M)_R(M). In this paper we introduce π\pi-Rickart modules as a generalization of generalized right principally projective rings as well as that of Rickart modules. The module MM is called {\it π\pi-Rickart} if for any fSf\in S, there exist e2=eSe^2=e\in S and a positive integer nn such that rM(fn)=eMr_M(f^n)=eM. We prove that several results of Rickart modules can be extended to π\pi-Rickart modules for this general settings, and investigate relations between a π\pi-Rickart module and its endomorphism ring.
