Abstract

Let RR be a commutative unital ring, a\mathfrak{ a} an ideal of RR and MM a fixed RR-module. We introduce and study generalisations of a\mathfrak{a}-reduced modules, Ra\mathfrak{R}_{\mathfrak{ a}} and a\mathfrak{a}-coreduced modules, Ca\mathfrak{C}_{\mathfrak{ a}} studied in the literature. They are called modules a\mathfrak{ a}-reduced with respect to MM, RaM\mathfrak{R}^{M}_{\mathfrak{ a}} and modules a\mathfrak{ a}-coreduced with respect to MM, CaM\mathfrak{C}^{M}_{\mathfrak{ a}}. The paper lifts several known results about Ra\mathfrak{R}_{\mathfrak{ a}} and Ca\mathfrak{C}_{\mathfrak{ a}} to larger classes of modules RaM\mathfrak{R}^{M}_{\mathfrak{ a}} and CaM\mathfrak{C}^{M}_{\mathfrak{ a}} respectively. Results about Ra\mathfrak{R}_{\mathfrak{ a}} and Ca\mathfrak{C}_{\mathfrak{ a}} can be retrieved by taking M=RM= R.
