We associate a non-commutative $C^*$-algebra with any locally finite simplicial complex. We determine the $K$-theory of these algebras and show that they can be used to obtain a conceptual explanation for the Baum-Connes conjecture.

We generalise the even local index formula of Connes and Moscovici to the case of spectral triples for a *-subalgebra \A of a general semifinite von Neumann algebra. The proof is a variant of that for the odd case which appears in Part I.…

We prove that a von Neumann algebra $M$ is abelian if and only if the square of every derivation on the algebra $S(M)$ of measurable operators, affiliated with $M$, is a local derivation. We also show that for general associative unital…

We show that Connes' embedding conjecture on von Neumann algebras is equivalent to the existence of certain algebraic certificates for a polynomial in noncommuting variables to satisfy the following nonnegativity condition: The trace is…

The Kirchberg Embedding Problem (KEP) asks if every C*-algebra embeds into an ultrapower of the Cuntz algebra $\cal O_2$. Motivated by the recent refutation of the Connes Embedding Problem using the quantum complexity result MIP*=RE, we…

We introduce a new class of nonlinear equations admitting a representation in terms of Darboux-covariant compatibility conditions. Their special cases are, in particular, (i) the "general" von Neumann equation $i\dot\rho=[H,f(\rho)]$, with…
