We cosider the number of r-tuples of squarefree numbers in a short interval. We prove that it cannot be much bigger than the expected value and we also estabish an asymptotic formula if the interval is not very short.

In the present paper we show that there exist infinitely many consecutive square-free numbers of the form $x^2+y^2+1$, $x^2+y^2+2$. We also give an asymptotic formula for the number of pairs of positive integers $x, y \leq H$ such that…

We show that if $h(x,y)=ax^2+bxy+cy^2\in \mathbb{Z}[x,y]$ satisfies $\Delta(h)=b^2-4ac\neq 0$, then any subset of $\{1,2,\dots,N\}$ lacking nonzero differences in the image of $h$ has size at most a constant depending on $h$ times…

We settle an open problem regarding palindromes; that is, positive integers which are the same when written forwards and backwards. In particular, we prove that for any fixed base $b\geq 2$, there exist infinitely many square-free…

The number of square-free integers in $x$ consecutive values of any polynomial $f$ is conjectured to be $c_fx$, where the constant $c_f$ depends only on the polynomial $f$. This has been proven for degrees less or equal to 3. Granville was…

A number is normal in base $b$ if, in its base $b$ expansion, all blocks of digits of equal length have the same asymptotic frequency. The rate at which a number approaches normality is quantified by the classical notion of discrepancy,…

A square-free integer is a positive integer that is not divisible by the square of any prime. Merten's function, $M(x)$ is defined as the difference between the number of square free integers with an even number of prime factors and the…

Let $u \shuffle v$ denote the set of all shuffles of the words $u$ and $v$. It is shown that for each integer $n \geq 3$ there exists a square-free ternary word $u$ of length $n$ such that $u\shuffle u$ contains a square-free word. This…

We study short intervals which contain an ``almost square'', an integer $n$ that can be factored as $n = ab$ with $a$, $b$ close to $\sqrt{n}$. This is related to the problem on distribution of $n^2 \alpha \pmod 1$ and the problem on gaps…

A set A is square-difference free (henceforth SDF) if there do not exist x,y\in A, x\ne y, such that |x-y| is a square. Let sdf(n) be the size of the largest SDF subset of {1,...,n}. Ruzsa has shown that sdf(n) = \Omega(n^{0.5(1+ \log_{65}…

For coprime positive integers $a, b, c$, where $a+b=c$, $\gcd(a,b,c)=1$ and $1\leq a < b$, the famous $abc$ conjecture (Masser and Oesterl\`e, 1985) states that for $\varepsilon > 0$, only finitely many $abc$ triples satisfy $c >…
