The minors of matroids with an adjoint

Combinatorics 2025-02-25 v2

Abstract

If MM is a matroid, then a simple matroid MM' with the same rank as MM is an adjoint of MM if there is an inclusion-reversing embedding ϕ\phi of the lattice of flats of MM into the lattice of flats of MM' such that ϕ\phi maps the hyperplanes of MM bijectively onto the points of MM'. In this note, we provide a proof that the class of matroids with an adjoint is minor-closed.
