The KATRIN experiment has recently reported a new upper limit to the mass of the electron neutrino of m<0.8eV (90\%CL), and a best value of m2=0.26±0.34eV2/c4 based on a fit to the observed tritium beta decay spectrum. Here another interpretation of their results is discussed.
