The 4-girth-thickness of the complete graph

Abstract

In this paper, we define the 44-girth-thickness θ(4,G)\theta(4,G) of a graph GG as the minimum number of planar subgraphs of girth at least 44 whose union is GG. We obtain the 44-girth-thickness of the arbitrary complete graph KnK_n getting that θ(4,Kn)=n+24\theta(4,K_n)=\left\lceil \frac{n+2}{4}\right\rceil for n6,10n\not=6,10 and θ(4,K6)=3\theta(4,K_6)=3.
