Supersolvability and nilpotency in terms of the commuting probability and the average character degree

Abstract

Let pp be a prime and let GG be a finite group such that the smallest prime that divides G|G| is pp. We find sharp bounds, depending on pp, for the commuting probability and the average character degree to guarantee that GG is nilpotent or supersolvable.
