Sequentially embeddable graphs

Combinatorics 2018-12-10 v1

Abstract

We call a (not necessarily planar) embedding of a graph GG in the plane \emph{sequential} if its vertices lie in Z2\mathbb Z^2 and the line segments between adjacent vertices contain no interior integer points. In this note, we prove (i) a graph GG has a sequential embedding if and only if GG is 4-colorable, and (ii) if GG is planar, then GG has a sequential planar embedding.
