Semiconjugate rational functions: a dynamical approach

Dynamical Systems 2018-01-09 v2

Abstract

Using dynamical methods we give a new proof of the theorem saying that if A,B,XA,B,X are rational functions of degree at least two such that AX=XBA\circ X=X\circ B and C(B,X)=C(z)\mathbb C(B,X)=\mathbb C(z), then the Galois closure of the field extension C(z)/C(X)\mathbb C(z)/\mathbb C(X) has genus zero or one.
