Onset of $\eta$ nuclear binding

Nuclear Theory 2018-07-31 v1 High Energy Physics - Phenomenology Nuclear Experiment

Abstract

Recent studies of η\eta nuclear quasibound states by the Jerusalem-Prague Collaboration are reviewed, focusing on stochastic variational method self consistent calculations of η\eta few-nucleon systems. These calculations suggest that a minimum value ReaηN1\,a_{\eta N} \approx 1 fm (0.7 fm) is needed to bind η3\eta\,^3He (η4\eta\,^4He).
