On the Grothendieck--Serre conjecture for projective smooth schemes over a DVR

Algebraic Geometry 2023-02-07 v1

Abstract

The Grothendieck--Serre conjecture predicts that every generically trivial torsor under a reductive group scheme GG over a regular local ring RR is trivial. The mixed characteristic case of the conjecture is widely open. We consider the following setup. Let AA be a mixed characteristic DVR, GG a reductive group scheme over AA, XX an irreducible smooth projective AA-scheme, G\mathcal G a principal GG-bundle over XX. Suppose G\mathcal G is generically trivial. We prove that in this case G\mathcal G is Zariski locally trivial. This result confirms the conjecture.
