Nodal solutions of the Brezis-Nirenberg problem in dimension 6

Abstract

We show that the classical Brezis-Nirenberg problem Δu=uu+λu in Ω,u=0 on Ω, -\Delta u=u|u| + \lambda u\ \hbox{in}\ \Omega, u=0\ \hbox{on}\ \partial\Omega, when Ω\Omega is a bounded domain in R6\mathbb R^6 has a sign-changing solution which blows-up at a point in Ω\Omega as λ\lambda approaches a suitable value λ0>0.\lambda_0>0.
