Measure of Entaglement

Quantum Physics 2007-05-23 v1

Abstract

The extent to which a given wave function, ψ\psi, is entangled is measured by minimizing the norm of ψ\psi minus all possible unentangled functions. This measure is given by the largest eigenvalue of ψψ\psi^\dagger \psi, considered as an operator. The definition is basis independent.
