$\Lambda^*$ matter and its stability

Nuclear Theory 2020-07-16 v2

Abstract

We performed calculations of nuclear systems composed solely of Λ\Lambda^* hyperons, aiming at exploring the possibility of existence of absolutely stable Λ\Lambda^* matter. We considered Λ\Lambda^* interaction strengths compatible with the ΛΛ\Lambda^*\Lambda^* binding energy BΛΛB_{\Lambda^*\Lambda^*} given by the KˉN\bar{K}N interaction model by Yamazaki and Akaishi [1]. We found that the binding energy per Λ\Lambda^* saturates at values well below 100 MeV for mass number A120A\geq120. The Λ\Lambda^* matter is thus highly unstable against strong interaction decay.
