Embedding Nearly Spanning Trees

Abstract

The Erd\H{o}s-S\'os Conjecture states that every graph with average degree exceeding k1k-1 contains every tree with kk edges as a subgraph. We prove that there are δ>0\delta>0 and k0Nk_0\in\mathbb N such that the conjecture holds for every tree TT with kk0k \ge k_0 edges and every graph GG with V(G)(1+δ)V(T)|V(G)| \le (1+\delta)|V(T)|.
