Congruence classes and maximal nonbases

Abstract

The set AA is an asymptotic nonbasis of order hh for an additive abelian group XX if there are infinitely many elements of XX not in the hh-fold sumset hAhA. For all h2h \geq 2, this paper constructs new classes of asymptotic nonbases of order hh for Z\mathbf{Z} and for N0\mathbf{N}_0 that are not subsets of maximal asymptotic nonbases.
