Adjacency labelling for proper minor-closed graph classes

Discrete Mathematics 2026-05-11 v2 Combinatorics

Abstract

We show that every proper minor-closed class of graphs admits a (1+o(1))log2n(1+o(1))\log_2 n-bit adjacency labelling scheme. Equivalently, for every proper minor-closed class G\mathcal{G} and every positive integer nn there exists an n1+o(1)n^{1+o(1)}-vertex graph UU such that every nn-vertex graph in G\mathcal{G} is isomorphic to an induced subgraph of UU. Both results are optimal up to the lower order term.
