Isometric universal graphs

Combinatorics 2021-06-24 v2

Abstract

A subgraph HH of a graph GG is isometric if the distances between vertices in HH coincide with the distances between the corresponding vertices in GG. We show that for any integer n1n\ge 1, there is a graph on 3n+O(log2n)3^{n+O(\log^2 n)} vertices that contains isometric copies of all nn-vertex graphs. Our main tool is a new type of distance labelling scheme, whose study might be of independent interest.
