A simple proof of the Borsuk-Ulam theorem for Z_p-actions

Abstract

In this note, we give a simple proof of the Borsuk-Ulam theorem for ZpZ_p-actions. We prove that, if SnS^n and SmS^m are equipped with free ZpZ_p-actions (p prime) and f:SnSmf: S^n \to S^m is a ZpZ_p-equivariant map, then nmn \leq m.
