A note on removable edges in near-bricks

Combinatorics 2024-08-07 v3

Abstract

An edge ee of a matching covered graph GG is removable if GeG-e is also matching covered. Carvalho, Lucchesi, and Murty showed that every brick GG different from K4K_4 and C6\overline{C_6} has at least Δ2\Delta-2 removable edges, where Δ\Delta is the maximum degree of GG. In this paper, we generalize the result to irreducible near-bricks, where a graph is irreducible if it contains no single ear of length three or more.
