A necessary condition for $2p$ to be congruent for a prime $p \equiv 5 \pmod 8$

Abstract

In this article, we consider primes p5(mod8)p \equiv 5 \pmod 8 and are able to prove that p5(mod16)p \equiv 5 \pmod {16} if 2p2p is a congruent number.
