Abstract
We provide a characterization of Symplectic Grassmannians in terms of their Varieties of Minimal Rational Tangents.

As kindly observed by Jun-Muk Hwang, the previous version of the paper (Math. Zeit., 286 (3-4), (2017) 1421-1433) contained an incorrect construction of the vector bundles $\cQ^\vee, \cF_1^\vee$ and $\cF_2^\vee$. However, the main Theorem can be proved by slightly modifying the arguments, as explained in a corrigendum, just published in the same journal. This version implements those changes
