Slope inequality for an arbitrary divisor

Algebraic Geometry 2024-07-16 v3

Abstract

Let f:SCf: S \longrightarrow C be a surjective morphism with connected fibers from a smooth complex projective surface SS to a smooth complex projective curve CC with general fiber FF. In this paper, we develop a more general version of the slope inequality for data (D,F)(D, \mathcal{F}), where DD is an arbitrary relatively effective divisor on SS and F\mathcal{F} is a locally free sub-sheaf of fOS(D)f_{*}\mathcal{O}_{S}(D). We see how the speciality of DD, restricted to the general fiber, plays a role in the results. Moreover, we compute some natural examples and provide applications.
