On $a^n+bn$ modulo $m$

Abstract

Let aa and m>0m>0 be integers. We show that for any integer bb relatively prime to mm, the set {an+bn: n=1,,m2}\{a^n+bn:\ n=1,\ldots,m^2\} contains a complete system of residues modulo mm. We also pose several conjectures for further research; for example, we conjecture that any integer n>1n>1 can be written as k+mk+m with 2k+m2^k+m prime, where kk and mm are positive integers.
