Generic point equivalence and Pisot numbers

Dynamical Systems 2020-11-04 v1 Number Theory

Abstract

Let β>1\beta >1 be an integer or generally a Pisot number. Put T(x)={βx}T(x) = \{ \beta x \} on [0,1][0,1] and let S:[0,1][0,1]S: [0,1]\to [0,1] be a piecewise linear transformation whose slopes have the form ±βm\pm \beta^m with positive integers mm. We give sufficient conditions that TT and SS have the same generic points.
