Generalized Tur\'an results for intersecting cliques

Combinatorics 2022-02-08 v2

Abstract

For fixed graphs FF and HH, the generalized Tur\'an problem asks for the maximum number ex(n,H,F)ex(n,H,F) of copies of HH that an nn-vertex FF-free graph can have. In this paper, we focus on cases with FF being Br,sB_{r,s}, the graph consisting of two cliques of size ss sharing rr common vertices. We determine ex(n,Kt,Br,0)ex(n,K_t,B_{r,0}), ex(n,Kt,Br,1)ex(n,K_t,B_{r,1}) and ex(n,Ka,b,B3,1)ex(n,K_{a,b},B_{3,1}) for all values of a,b,r,ta,b,r,t if nn is large enough.

A mistake was found in a proof of the first version. As a result, one of the theorems is weakened. We also added a new theorem
