Double duals and Hilbert modules

Abstract

Let AA be a CC^*-algebra, HH be a Hilbert AA-module and K(H)K(H) be the closure of the set of finite rank module maps. We show that the WW^*-algebra of all bounded AA^{**}-module maps on the smallest self-dual Hilbert AA^{**}-module containing HH is isomorphic to K(H)K(H)^{**} as WW^*-algebras. We also show that the unit ball of HH is closed in H,H^\sharp, the dual of H,H, in an AA-weak topology of HH^\sharp as well as dense in the unit ball of HH^\sharp in a weak*-topology and some versions of Kaplansky density theorem for Hilbert CC^*-modules.
