Distribution of residues modulo $p$ using the Dirichlet's class number formula

Number Theory 2019-01-30 v2

Abstract

Let pp be an odd prime number. In this article, we study the number of quadratic residues and non-residues modulo pp which are multiples of 22 or 33 or 44 and lying in the interval [1,p1][1, p-1], by applying the Dirichlet's class number formula for the imaginary quadratic field Q(p)\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{-p}).
