Distinct distances in the complex plane

Combinatorics 2023-08-24 v1 Computational Geometry

Abstract

We prove that if PP is a set of nn points in C2\mathbb{C}^2, then either the points in PP determine Ω(n1ϵ)\Omega(n^{1-\epsilon}) complex distances, or PP is contained in a line with slope ±i\pm i. If the latter occurs then each pair of points in PP have complex distance 0.
