Compact orbits of Parabolic subgroups

Abstract

We study the action of a real reductive group GG on a real submanifold XX of a Kahler manifold ZZ. We suppose that the action of a compact connected Lie group UU with Lie algebra u\mathfrak{u} extends holomorphically to an action of the complexified group UCU^{\mathbb C} and that the UU-action on ZZ is Hamiltonian. If GUCG\subset U^{\mathbb C} is compatible there exists a gradient map μp:Xp\mu_{\mathfrak p}:X \longrightarrow \mathfrak p where g=kp\mathfrak g=\mathfrak k \oplus \mathfrak p is a Cartan decomposition of g\mathfrak g. In this paper we describe compact orbits of parabolic subgroups of GG in term of the gradient map μp\mu_\mathfrak p.
