Antisymmetric Elements in Group Rings II

Rings and Algebras 2008-01-30 v1

Abstract

Let RR be a commutative ring, GG a group and RGRG its group ring. Let \vp:RGRG\vp : RG\to RG denote the RR-linear extension of an involution \vp\vp defined on GG. An element xx in RGRG is said to be \vp\vp-antisymmetric if \vp(x)=x\vp (x) = -x. A characterization is given of when the \vp\vp-antisymmetric elements of RGRG commute. This is a completion of earlier work.
