Algebraic Semigroups are Strongly {\pi}-regular

Algebraic Geometry 2013-07-19 v2 Group Theory

Abstract

Let SS be an algebraic semigroup (not necessarily linear) defined over a field FF. We show that there exists a positive integer nn such that xnx^n belongs to a subgroup of S(F)S(F) for any xS(F)x \in S(F). In particular, the semigroup S(F)S(F) is strongly {\pi}-regular.
