A "hidden" characterization of polyhedral convex sets

Abstract

We prove that a closed convex subset CC of a complete linear metric space XX is polyhedral in its closed linear hull if and only if no infinite subset AX\CA\subset X\backslash C can be hidden behind CC in the sense [x,y]C[x,y]\cap C\not = \emptyset for any distinct points x,yAx,y\in A.
