Abstract
In this note we give a characterization of elementary abelian 2-groups in terms of their maximal sum-free subsets.

The first part, entitled "A characterization of elementary abelian 2-groups", has been published in Arch. Math., vol. 102 (2014), no. 1, 11-14. As pointed out by C.S. Anabanti [arXiv:1611.06546], there is a mistake in the proof of Theorem 1.1. The second part, entitled "A result on the maximal sum-free subsets of finite groups", is a corrected version of this paper
