We introduce nonlocal flows that commute with those of the classical Toda hierarchy. We define a logarithm of the difference Lax operator and use it to obtain a Lax representation of the new flows.

We present an n-dimensional integrable homogeneous Lotka--Volterra system, which has $(n^2-1)$-dimensional Lie symmetry algebra. Moreover a wider integrable family is derived from the structure of the Lie algebra.

Let $\fg$ be any untwisted affine Kac-Moody algebra, $\mu$ any fixed complex number, and $\wt\fg(\mu)$ the corresponding toroidal extended affine Lie algebra of nullity two. For any $k$-tuple $\bm{\lambda}=({\lambda}_1, \cdots,…

We study the Pfaff lattice, introduced by us in the context of a Lie algebra splitting of gl(infinity) into sp(infinity) and lower-triangular matrices. We establish a set of bilinear identities, which we show to be equivalent to the Pfaff…

Symmetries of the periodic Toda lattice are expresssed in action-angle coordinates and characterized in terms of the periodic and Dirichlet spectrum of the associated Jacobi matrices. Using these symmetries, the phase space of the lattice…

It is pointed out that affine Lie algebras appear to be the natural mathematical structure underlying the notion of integrability for two-dimensional systems. Their role in the construction and classification of 2D integrable systems is…

Nongraded infinite-dimensional Lie algebras appeared naturally in the theory of Hamiltonian operators, the theory of vertex algebras and their multi-variable analogues. They play important roles in mathematical physics. This survey article…

An analysis is given of the structure of a general two-dimensional Toda field theory involving bosons and fermions which is defined in terms of a set of simple roots for a Lie superalgebra. It is shown that a simple root system for a…

We prove that the classical, non-periodic Toda lattice is super-integrable. In other words, we show that it possesses 2N-1 independent constants of motion, where N is the number of degrees of freedom. The main ingredient of the proof is the…
