We prove that the fundamental group of any Seifert 3-manifold is conjugacy separable. That is, conjugates may be distinguished in finite quotients or, equivalently, conjugacy classes are closed in the pro-finite topology.

We prove the conjugacy of Sylow $p$-subgroups of linear pseudofinite groups under the assumption of the existence of a finite Sylow $p$-subgroup. We also give an example of a linear pseudofinite group with non-conjugate Sylow $2$-subgroups.

Let $G$ be a residually finite, good group of finite virtual cohomological dimension. We prove that the natural monomorphism $G\hookrightarrow\hat{G}$ induces a bijective correspondence between conjugacy classes of finite $p$-subgroups of…

We extend Dwyer's sharp subgroup homology decomposition of the classifying space of a finite group to arbitrary saturated fusion systems and arbitrary Mackey functors.

For a prime $p$, we describe a protocol for handling a specific type of fusion system on a $p$-group by computer. These fusion systems contain all saturated fusion systems. This framework allows us to computationally determine whether or…

In this short note we prove that a saturated fusion system admitting some special type of automorphism is nilpotent. This generalizes classical results by J.G. Thompson.

Let $G$ be a finite group and assume $p$ is a prime dividing the order of $G$. Suppose for any such $p$, that every two abelian $p$-subgroups of $G$ of equal order are conjugate. The structure of such a group $G$ has been settled in this…

We study saturated fusion systems on $p$-groups having sectional rank $3$ for all odd primes $p$. For $p\geq 5$, we obtain a complete classification of the ones that do not have any non-trivial normal $p$-subgroups.

We show that the $p$-group complex of a finite group $G$ is homotopy equivalent to a wedge of spheres of dimension at most $n$ if $G$ contains a self-centralising normal subgroup $H$ which is isomorphic to a group of Lie type and Lie rank…

In this article we prove that for any saturated fusion system, that the (unique) smallest weakly normal subsystem of it on a given strongly closed subgroup is actually normal. This has a variety of corollaries, such as the statement that…

We classify all (saturated) fusion systems on bicyclic 2-groups. Here, a bicyclic group is a product of two cyclic subgroups. This extends previous work on fusion systems on metacyclic 2-groups (see [Craven-Glesser, 2012] and [Sambale,…

We prove that an isomorphism between saturated fusion systems over the same finite p-group is detected on the elementary abelian subgroups of the hyperfocal subgroup if p is odd, and on the abelian subgroups of the hyperfocal subgroup of…

Linking systems are crucial for studying the homotopy theory of fusion systems, but are also of interest from an algebraic point of view. We propose a definition of a linking system associated to a saturated fusion system which is more…

We say that a fusion system is the composition product of two subsystems if every morphism can be factored as a morphism in one fusion system followed by a morphism in the other. We establish a relationship between the characteristic…
