We prove that the cycle space of every planar finitely separable 3-connected graph $G$ is generated by some ${\rm Aut}(G)$-invariant nested set of cycles. We also discuss the situation in the case of smaller connectivity.

A cycle $C$ in a graph $G$ is called a Tutte cycle if, after deleting $C$ from $G$, each component has at most three neighbors on $C$. Tutte cycles play an important role in the study of Hamiltonicity of planar graphs. Thomas and Yu and…

We consider questions related to the existence of spanning trees in graphs with the property that after the removal of any path in the tree the graph remains connected. We show that, for planar graphs, the existence of trees with this…

The chain theorem of Tutte states that every 3-connected graph can be constructed from a wheel $W_n$ by repeatedly adding edges and splitting vertices. It is not difficult to prove the following strengthening of this theorem: every…

A wheel is a graph formed by a chordless cycle and a vertex that has at least three neighbors in the cycle. We prove that every 3-connected graph that does not contain a wheel as a subgraph is in fact minimally 3-connected. We give a new…

We study two parameters obtained from the Euler characteristic by replacing the number of faces with that of induced and induced non-separating cycles. By establishing monotonicity of such parameters under certain homomorphism and edge…

We offer a new structural basis for the theory of 3-connected graphs, providing a unique decomposition of every such graph into parts that are either quasi 4-connected, wheels, or thickened $K_{3,m}$'s. Our construction is explicit,…

The simple connected graphs may be classified by their cycle composition (number and lengths of cycles). This work derives the counting series of the simple connected graphs that have cycles of unrestricted number and length, but no…

The cycles are the only $2$-connected graphs in which any two nonadjacent vertices form a vertex cut. We generalize this fact by proving that for every integer $k\ge 3$ there exists a unique graph $G$ satisfying the following conditions:…

It is folklore that the cycle space of graphs of polytopes is generated by the cycles bounding the 2-faces. We provide a proof of this result that bypass homological arguments, which seem to be the most widely known proof. As a corollary,…

We generalise a fundamental graph-theoretical fact, stating that every element of the cycle space of a graph is a sum of edge-disjoint cycles, to arbitrary continua. To achieve this we replace graph cycles by topological circles, and…

A $3$-connected graph is minimally 3-connected if removal of any edge destroys 3-connectivity. We present an algorithm for constructing minimally 3-connected graphs based on the results in (Dawes, JCTB 40, 159-168, 1986) using two…

The cycle space of a graph corresponds to the kernel of an incidence matrix. We investigate an analogous subspace for digraphs. In the case of digraphs of graphs, where every edge is replaced by two oppositely directed arcs, we give a…
