We show that strictly convex surfaces expanding by the inverse Gauss curvature flow converge to infinity in finite time. After appropriate rescaling, they converge to spheres. We describe the algorithm to find our main test function.

We show that on simple surfaces the geodesic ray transform acting on solenoidal symmetric tensor fields of arbitrary order is injective. This solves a long standing inverse problem in the two-dimensional case.

For a Z-cover of a translation surface, which is a lattice surface, and which admits infinite strips, we prove that almost every direction for the straightline flow is ergodic.

We prove two conjectures of C. Gordon. We show that the maximal number of exceptional Dehn surgeries on a 1-cusped hyperbolic 3-manifold is 10, and that the maximal intersection number between exceptional slopes is 8. The proof uses a…

We prove the existence of Alexandrov embedded closed magnetic geodesics on closed hyperbolic surfaces. Closed magnetic geodesics correspond to closed curves with prescribed geodesic curvature.

In the previous paper, the authors constructed a complete holomorphic immersion of the unit disk D into C^2 whose image is bounded. In this paper, we shall prove existence of complete holomorphic null immersions of Riemann surfaces with…

We show that some hyperbolic 3-manifolds which are tessellated by copies of the regular ideal hyperbolic tetrahedron embed geodesically in a complete, finite volume, hyperbolic 4-manifold. This allows us to prove that the complement of the…

We study the symmetries and geodesics of an infinite translation surface which arises as a limit of translation surfaces built from regular polygons, studied by Veech. We find the affine symmetry group of this infinite translation surface,…

Hyperbolic Dehn surgery and the bending procedure provide two ways which can be used to describe hyperbolic deformations of a complete hyperbolic structure on a 3-manifold. Moreover, one can obtain examples of non-Haken manifolds without…

We show that all pretzel knots satisfy the (purely) cosmetic surgery conjecture, i.e. Dehn surgeries with different slopes along a pretzel knot provide different oriented three-manifolds.

A translation structure on a surface is an atlas of charts to the plane so that the transition functions are translations. We allow our surfaces to be non-compact and infinite genus. We endow the space of all pointed surfaces equipped with…
