It is argued that correlations and multiplicity distributions constitute one of the most characteristic properties of strong interactions. The progress made in the last years in our understanding of correlations is reviewed.

A group of transformations changing the phases of the single particle density matrix, but leaving unchanged the predictions for identical particles concerning the momentum distributions, momentum correlations etc., is identified. Its…

Bose-Einstein correlations and momentum distributions are calculated for longitudinally expanding systems, like jets or high energy heavy ion collisions with light projectiles. The expansion generates a thermal length-scale in the…

It is shown that there exists an intimate relationship between Bose Einstein correlations and quantum field theory. On the one hand several essential aspects of BEC cannot be understood and even formulated without second quantization. On…

The phase transition to a Bose-Einstein condensate is unusual in that it is not necessarily driven by inter-particle interactions but can occur in an ideal gas as a result of a purely statistical saturation of excited states. However,…

Correlations among identical bosons, which are familiar from statistical physics, play an increasingly important role in high energy multiple particle production processes. They provide information about the region, where the particles are…

A generalization of the core/halo model to the Bose-Einstein correlation function of any number of particles is presented. In particular, a simple prediction is obtained for the intercept parameter of the n-particle inclusive Bose-Einstein…
