The notion of bounded FC-nilpotent group is introduced and it is shown that any such group is nilpotent-by-finite, generalizing a result of Neumann on bounded FC-groups.

We give a simple proof of the Curtis' theorem: if $A_\bullet$ is $k$-connected free simplicial abelian group, then $L^n(A_\bullet)$ is an $k+ \lceil \log_2 n \rceil$-connected simplicial abelian group, where $L^n$ is the functor of $n$-th…

We prove the A-theoretic Farrell-Jones Conjecture for virtually solvable groups. As a corollary, we obtain that the conjecture holds for S-arithmetic groups and lattices in almost connected Lie groups.

We give some examples of non-complete invariant affine connections on nilpotent and filiform Lie groups. This permits to describe non-nilpotent faithful representations on the model of filiform n-dimensional Lie algebras and, in particular,…

In this short note, we provide an inequality that holds in any finite group, only involving the orders of the elements; we prove that equality holds if and only if the group is nilpotent.

We give a new, geometric proof of the section conjecture for fixed points of finite group actions on projective curves of positive genus defined over the field of complex numbers, as well as its natural nilpotent analogue. As a part of our…

We give the number of nilpotent orbits in the Lie algebras of orthogonal groups under the adjoint action of the groups over $\tF_{2^n}$. Let $G$ be an adjoint algebraic group of type $B,C$ or $D$ defined over an algebraically closed field…

We extend results on finite dimensional nilpotent Lie algebras to Leibniz algebras and counterexamples to others are found. One generator algebras are used in these examples and are investigated further.

We establish some results about large restricted Lie algebras similar to those known in the Group Theory. As an application we use this group-theoretic approach to produce some examples of restricted as well as ordinary Lie algebras which…

We introduce cone bilipschitz equivalences between metric spaces. These are maps, more general than quasi-isometries, that induce a bilipschitz homeomorphism between asymptotic cones. Non-trivial examples appear in the context of Lie…
