We show that there are infinitely many triples of positive integers a, b, c (greater than 1) such that ab + 1, ac + 1, bc + 1 and abc + 1 are all perfect squares.
We prove that there exist infinitely many rationals a, b and c with the property that a^2-1, b^2-1, c^2-1, ab-1, ac-1 and bc-1 are all perfect squares. This provides a solution to a variant of the problem studied by Diophantus and Euler.
We show that for infinitely many square-free integers q there exist infinitely many triples of rational numbers {a, b, c} such that a^2 + q, b^2 + q, c^2 + q, ab + q, ac + q and bc + q are squares of rational numbers.
By an $abc$ triple, we mean a triple $(a,b,c)$ of relatively prime positive integers $a,b,$ and $c$ such that $a+b=c$ and $\operatorname{rad}(abc)<c$, where $\operatorname{rad}(n)$ denotes the product of the distinct prime factors of $n$.…
In this paper we first investigate for what positive integers $a,b,c$ every nonnegative integer $n$ can be represented as $x(ax+1)+y(by+1)+z(cz+1)$ with $x,y,z$ integers. We show that $(a,b,c)$ can be either of the following seven triples:…
The abc conjecture, one of the most famous open problems in number theory, claims that three positive integers satisfying a+b=c cannot simultaneously have significant repetition among their prime factors; in particular, the product of the…
In this paper we study practical numbers of some special forms. For any integers $b\ge0$ and $c>0$, we show that if $n^2+bn+c$ is practical for some integer $n>1$, then there are infinitely many nonnegative integers $n$ with $n^2+bn+c$…
In the present paper we prove that for any fixed $1<c<7/6$ there exist infinitely many consecutive square-free numbers of the form $[n^c], [n^c]+1$ and we also establish an asymptotic formula in given interval.
In this short paper we shall prove that there exist infinitely many consecutive square-free numbers of the form $[\alpha p]$, $[\alpha p]+1$, where $p$ is prime and $\alpha>0$ is irrational algebraic number. We also establish an asymptotic…
In the present paper we show that there exist infinitely many consecutive square-free numbers of the form $[\alpha n]$, $[\alpha n]+1$, where $\alpha>1$ is irrational number with bounded partial quotient or irrational algebraic number.
A curious number is a palindromic number whose base ten representation has the form $a \ldots a b \ldots b a \ldots a$. In this paper, we determine all curious numbers that are perfect squares. Our proof involves reducing the search for…
We show that almost every positive integer can be expressed as a sum of four squares of integers represented as the sums of three positive cubes.
The $abc$ conjecture states that there are only finitely many triples of coprime positive integers $(a,b,c)$ such that $a+b=c$ and $\operatorname{rad}(abc) < c^{1-\epsilon}$ for any $\epsilon > 0$. Using the optimized methods in a recent…
For coprime positive integers $a, b, c$, where $a+b=c$, $\gcd(a,b,c)=1$ and $1\leq a < b$, the famous $abc$ conjecture (Masser and Oesterl\`e, 1985) states that for $\varepsilon > 0$, only finitely many $abc$ triples satisfy $c >…
In this paper we mainly study sums of four rational squares with certain restrictions. Let $\mathbb Q_{\ge0}$ be the set of nonnegative rational numbers. We establish the following four-square theorem for rational numbers: For any…
Let $\F$ be the finite field of odd prime power order $q$, We find explicit expressions for the number of triples $\{\al-1,\al,\al+1 \}$ of consecutive non-zero squares in $\F$ and similarly for the number of triples of consecutive…
Let $a$, $b$, $c$ be fixed coprime positive integers with $\min\{ a,b,c \} >1$. Let $N(a,b,c)$ denote the number of positive integer solutions $(x,y,z)$ of the equation $a^x + b^y = c^z$. We show that if $(a,b,c)$ is a triple of distinct…
We prove that for any positive integer c there are at least N(c), $1\leq N(c) < \phi(c)/2$ representations of c as a sum of two positive integers a, b, with no common divisor, such that the N(c) radicals R(abc) are all greater than kc,…
A set of $m$ distinct nonzero rationals $\{a_1,a_2,\ldots,a_m\}$ such that $a_ia_j+1$ is a perfect square for all $1\leq i<j\leq m$, is called a rational Diophantine $m$-tuple. It is proved recently that there are infinitely many rational…
A well-known conjecture asserts that there are infinitely many primes $p$ for which $p - 1$ is a perfect square. We obtain upper and lower bounds of matching order on the number of pairs of distinct primes $p,q \le x$ for which $(p - 1)(q -…
