The goal of the paper is to consider Bernstein-Mellin subspaces in the Lebesgue-Mellin spaces and establishing for functions in these subspaces new sampling theorems and Riesz-Boas high-order interpolation formulas.
The paper contains Boas-type formulas for trajectories of one-parameter groups of operators in Banach spaces. The results are illustrated using one-parameter groups of operators which appear in representations of Lie groups.
The existence of a Banach limit as a translation invariant positive continuous linear functional on the space of bounded scalar sequences which is equal to 1 at the constant sequence (1,1,...,1,...) is proved in a first course on functional…
We survey elementary results in Minkowski spaces (i.e. finite dimensional Banach spaces) that deserve to be collected together, and give simple proofs for some of them. We place special emphasis on planar results. Many of these results have…
We present the abstract framework and some applications of interpolation theory. The main new result concerns interpolation between H^1 and L^p estimates for analytic families of operators acting on Schwartz functions.
The extension of Banach Lie-Poisson spaces is studied and linked to the extension of a special class of Banach Lie algebras. The case of W*-algebras is given particular attention. Semidirect products and the extension of the restricted…
Existing concentration bounds for bounded vector-valued random variables include extensions of the scalar Hoeffding and Bernstein inequalities. While the latter is typically tighter, it requires knowing a bound on the variance of the random…
The aim of this paper is to extend two results from the Paley--Wiener setting to more generalmodel spaces. The first one is an analogue of the oversampling Shannon sampling formula. The second one is a version of the Donoho--Logan Large…
The problems connected with equivalent norms lie at the heart of Banach space theory. This is a short survey on some recent as well as classical results and open problems in renormings of Banach spaces.
Successive differences on a sequence of data help to discover some smoothness features of this data. This was one of the main reasons for rewriting the classical interpolation formula in terms of such data differences. The aim of this paper…
This is a survey of results on the classification of Banach spaces as metric spaces. It is based on a series of lectures I gave at the Functional Analysis Seminar in 1984-1985, and it appeared in the 1984-1985 issue of the Longhorn Notes. I…
General expository paper concerning topics in Hilbert spaces, spectral theory, and harmonic analysis. The preliminary section includes basic Banach algebra and Hilbert space theory with a digression on Riesz bases. The second and third…
This work represents a first systematic attempt to create a common ground for semi-classical and time-frequency analysis. These two different areas combined together provide interesting outcomes in terms of Schr\"odinger type equations.…
The aim of this paper is to review the state-of-the-art of recent research concerning the numerical index of Banach spaces, by presenting some of the results found in the last years and proposing a number of related open problems.
The category of Banach Lie-Poisson spaces is introduced and studied. It is shown that the category of W*-algebras can be considered as one of its subcategories. Examples and applications of Banach Lie-Poisson spaces to quantization and…
Can polynomial interpolation be extended to a Banach space setting? Are tensors whose elements are non-commutative Banach space elements legitimate objects with notable analytic and algebraic properties? Here we explore these questions and…
A Bochner integral formula is derived that represents a function in terms of weights and a parametrized family of functions. Comparison is made to pointwise formulations, norm inequalities relating pointwise and Bochner integrals are…
We create a new, functional calculus, approach to approximation of C_0-semigroups on Banach spaces. As an application of this approach, we obtain optimal convergence rates in classical approximation formulas for C_0-semigroups. In fact, our…
In this survey, we present several results related to characterizing the surjective isometries on Banach sequence spaces. Our survey includes full proofs of these characterizations for the classical spaces as well as more recent results for…
We obtain new uniqueness theorems for harmonic functions defined on the unit disc or in the half plane. These results are applied to obtain new resolvent descriptions of spectral subspaces of polynomially bounded groups of operators on…
