For a $k$-uniform hypergraph $F$ we consider the parameter $\Theta(F)$, the minimum size of a clique cover of the of $F$. We derive bounds on $\Theta(F)$ for $F$ belonging to various classes of hypergraphs.

It is shown that any graph with maximum degree $\Delta$ in which the average degree of the induced subgraph on the set of all neighbors of any vertex exceeds $\frac{6k^2}{6k^2 + 1}\Delta + k + 6$ is either $(\Delta - k)$-colorable or…

The notion of graph cover, also known as locally bijective homomorphism, is a discretization of covering spaces known from general topology. It is a pair of incidence-preserving vertex- and edge-mappings between two graphs, the…

We study the class of 1-perfectly orientable graphs, that is, graphs having an orientation in which every out-neighborhood induces a tournament. 1-perfectly orientable graphs form a common generalization of chordal graphs and circular arc…

Let $k\ge 2$ be fixed integer, $0<c<1$ a constant. Consider a graph $G$ with $n$ vertices and average degree $cn$. We answer a question of Simon Griffiths by showing that $G$ has $k$ vertices such that their neighborhoods together cover at…

We consider the problem of covering an input graph $H$ with graphs from a fixed covering class $G$. The classical covering number of $H$ with respect to $G$ is the minimum number of graphs from $G$ needed to cover the edges of $H$ without…

Let $G$ be a graph and $t\ge 0$. A new graph parameter termed the largest reduced neighborhood clique cover number of $G$, denoted by ${\hat\beta}_t(G)$, is introduced. Specifically, ${\hat\beta}_t(G)$ is the largest, overall $t$-shallow…

The clique-width is known to be unbounded in the class of unit interval graphs. In this paper, we show that this is a minimal hereditary class of unbounded clique-width, i.e., in every hereditary subclass of unit interval graphs the…

Treewidth is an important graph invariant, relevant for both structural and algorithmic reasons. A necessary condition for a graph class to have bounded treewidth is the absence of large cliques. We study graph classes closed under taking…

In 1966, Erd\H{o}s, Goodman, and P\'osa proved that $\lfloor n^2/4 \rfloor$ cliques are sufficient to cover all edges in any $n$-vertex graph, with tightness achieved by the balanced complete bipartite graph. This result was generalized by…
